The Cincinnati 9/12 Project is beginning a new project called, very simply,
the Precinct Education Project (PEP). As the title suggests, our purpose
is to educate and inform voters in the hundreds of precincts in Hamilton County
and surrounding counties about issues and about candidates. Our goal is to
impact the 2010 elections. Of all the projects we have undertaken in the past year,
this one is the most critical to realizing our ultimate goal: restoring the
American Constitutional Republic. We need your help now more than we’ve ever
needed it before.
Here is how PEP will work:
Cincinnati 9/12 Project members volunteer to become members of the PEP
Precinct Team in whichever precinct they reside. Each Precinct Team has a team leader
who is responsible for organizing and communicating with the Team members. The Cincinnati
9/12 Project emails Team members educational and informational flyers on a variety
of topics. The Team members distribute these flyers to the registered voters in
their precinct, either by simply leaving them at the door, or by engaging voters
in a discussion. (Talking with people is the best way to inform them and get them
thinking about issues in a different way.)
Yes, we are asking Team members to print flyers at home. We realize that you will
bear the cost for this, but any other distribution method would be logistically
difficult and prohibitively expensive for the 912 Project. The more Team members
we recruit, the easier and cheaper it will be for each member, so please get your
friends and family involved!
There will be a training session for all Team members in May at the Crowne Plaza
in Blue Ash. The focus will be on how to effectively approach and interact with
voters – in other words, how to be successful community organizers! We’ll let you
know the date and time in the not-too-distant future.
So, how do you know which precinct you’re in?
Fortunately, the Precinct Project Assistant at http://www.numus.com/precincts/ makes
it easy to find out. Click the link and follow instructions on the Precinct Project
Assistant Web page. Once you download the Precinct Project Assistant software and
open the application, look for the “Link to find a precinct from an address” label
at the top left of the screen. Click the link provided. It will take you to a site
on which you can search for your precinct. For those in Hamilton County, for example,
the link will lead to the Hamilton County Board of Elections Web site. There, visitors
can do a search for their polling station. The search results include the name of
their precinct.
How do you identify the voters in your precinct?
When you have identified your precinct, go back to the Precinct Project
Assistant software application you downloaded. From the drop menu labeled “First
Select a Precinct,” select your precinct. The application will list every registered
voter in your precinct along with that voter’s address, party affiliation, and a
variety of additional information.
OK, you have a list of registered voters in your precinct,
so now what?
Now you volunteer to be a Precinct Team member or a Precinct Team leader!
If you are ready to step up and help educate the voters in your precinct, please
send an email with your name and phone number to
maya@cincinnati912project.com. If you are ready to take on the responsibility
of Precinct Team leader, please mention it in the email. Amy Burke will then create
a page for the Cincinnati 9/12 Project website (www.cincinnati912project.com)
that allows volunteers in each precinct to look up their Precinct Team leader. When
the Precinct Teams are in place, we’ll begin sending out the flyers you can use
to educate your voters.
An important tip for volunteers:
When you begin “working” your precinct, focus on Independents and on
Republicans, especially those Republicans who haven’t voted consistently in the
past. If you have time, include Democrats in your efforts, but targeting Independents
and Republicans with spotty voting records will be critically important to impacting
the November elections.
A few final words:
The Precinct Education Project is vital to the effort of “waking up”
and informing the voting public. As you all well know, we must put principled people
in office this November or risk losing the republic for good. Please, please get
involved. Together, we truly can contribute to helping preserve the country we cherish.
